How Distributor's shares are estimated - Kaththi

How Distributor's shares are estimated: Kaththi

The Basic Concept:
Total Theatrical collections = Gross
Nett = Gross - Entertainment Tax
Share = Nett - Rentals

During the 1st week the Distributors get 65-70% share from the nett collections. Kaththi's 1st week: 5 days Tamil Nadu(TN) Gross was estimated to be around INR 36 crores, since there was no entertainment tax levied upon the movie, the Total gross = Nett, so from the 36 crores the distributors share was around 23.5 crores in TN.

During the 2nd week collections dipped a bit and the total collections were estimated to be around 22+ crs in TN. During the 2nd week normally the distributors get shares of around 60% from the nett collections. So their shares for the 2nd week was around 13.2 crores.

Total shares from 2 weeks in TN is around:
23.5 crs + 13.2 crs = 36.7 crores.
Overall shares from TN till now would be around 39+ crores.

In Overseas market, The distributor shares are estimated to be around 16.5-17 crores.

Whereas in the Rest of the Indian circuits, shares are around INR 9 crores.

So the Total distributors share worldwide is around 64.5 crs - 65 crores and the worldwide gross should be around 110 - 114 crores overall.

Kaththi's Total Theatrical rights is around 60-61 crores and the movie had already recovered the expenses from just the single version(Tamil) The Telugu version of Kaththi is slated to be released by the end of this month as per the sources.

*It is also to be noted that despite Kaththi's total collections from the Home circuit (TN) fell short by say 6-7 crores as it was expected to end up around 68-70 crores in 3 weeks, but still! it was compensated by collections from other key circuits like Karnataka, Malaysia, U.S.A , UK, Australia etc
